Filters, chemical tablets, or UV sterilizers do not offer protection that the SolarBag offers for ultra contaminated water.

Here are common waterborne pathogens rendered inactive by pasteurization temperatures below:

• Bacteria (V. cholerae, E. coli, Shigella, Salmonella typhi), Rotavirus: Rapidly killed at 60C / 141F
• Hepatitis A virus: Rapidly killed at 65C / 149F
• Worms, Protozoa cysts (Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba): Rapidly killed at 55C / 131F
• Five minutes at 65C / 149F would cause at least a 99.999 percent (5 log) reduction in viable waterborne microbes capable of causing disease.
